Cracked Up

A life impacted by child abuse, a portrait of Saturday Night Live’s Darrell Hammond

2018 | Running Time: 97 minutes | Rating: NR

On Saturday Night Live, Darrell Hammond delighted audiences with his masterful impressions and powerful satire. No one could figure out why, but behind the scenes he was suffering. Over decades of misdiagnoses and ineffective medications, Hammond struggled with nightmarish and debilitating flashbacks, self injury, drugs and alcohol. After a suicide attempt he finally found out what was causing him all that pain — childhood trauma. In CRACKED UP, Hammond courageously and transparently confronts the toxic stress of his abusive childhood and his altered present. The film premiered at the 2018 DOC NYC Film Festival. Director/Producer: Michelle Esrick; Producer: David Becker; Co-Producers: Chris Hegedus and D A Pennebaker; Executive Producers: Regina K.
