Based on their best-selling book of the same name, journalists Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn’s HALF THE SKY: TURNING OPPRESSION INTO OPPORTUNITY FOR WOMEN WORLDWIDE is a four-hour documentary series focused on eliminating gender inequality. Following Kristof and celebrity advocates like America Ferrera, Diane Lane, Eva Mendes, Meg Ryan, Gabrielle Union and Olivia Wilde, the series shows women and girls bravely fighting to escape some of the most difficult circumstances imaginable. A solution-oriented examination of issues like human trafficking and sexual violence, the film reflects on viable options for empowerment like girls education initiatives and microfinance programs.
