Brenda Myers-Powell grew up in one of Chicago’s poorest neighborhoods, lost her mother as an infant and suffered sexual abuse at the hands of trusted family members. When she escaped this violent home life as a runaway teen, she fell into a world of prostitution and drug addiction. After 25 years working as “Breezy,” a violent encounter with a John propelled Brenda to change her life. Today she helps women and teenage girls who are seeking that same change. DREAMCATCHER explores the cycle of neglect, violence and exploitation that lead women to survival sex work. With intimate access, the film offers an unflinching exposé into their bleak realities as well as underscores the inspiring difference one person can make in their lives.
