Trapped
Exposing the disingenuous legislation designed to make abortions inaccessible
2016 | Running Time: 83 minutes | Rating: NR
U.S. reproductive health clinics are fighting to remain open. Through the stories of clinic workers and lawyers, TRAPPED goes to the front lines of this battle uncovering the hidden truth underneath hundreds of Targeted Regulations of Abortion Providers (TRAP) laws. In the over 40 states where these mandates exist, lawmakers claim they put them in place to protect women’s health. But their design restricts access to abortion. The additional standards and rules they set for abortion providers are often too costly or difficult to satisfy. Many clinics are forced to close — effectively outlawing a woman’s right to choose. TRAPPED premiered at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival. Director: Dawn Porter; Producer: Marilyn Ness; Executive Producer: Sally Jo Fifer, Cindy Meehl, Audrey Rosenberg, Lois Vossen
