The Journey is the Destination

The coming-of-age story of a young photojournalist in Africa

2015 | Running Time: 123 minutes | Rating: R

Based on the life of Dan Eldon, a 22-year-old photojournalist killed while working in Somalia, this biopic tells the story of a young man realizing his purpose, place in the world and belief that we can all create positive change. Set in the early 1990s, the film chronicles Eldon’s humanitarian and journalistic endeavors, including leading a group of unlikely teens on a safari to deliver aid to a refugee camp in Malawi and covering famine and spiraling civil war in Somalia for Reuters as their youngest stringer. A meditation on the role of journalists in war zones, THE JOURNEY IS THE DESTINATION underscores the double-edged sword of bearing witness. The film premiered at the 2016 Toronto International Film Festival. Director/Writer: Bronwen Hughes; Starring: Ben Schnetzer; Writer: Jan Sardi; Producers: Kweku Mandela Amuah, Richard Arlook, Kathy Eldon, Adam Friedlander, Martin Katz
