Artemis Rising Foundation Supports:

Eve Ensler

Eve Ensler is a Tony award-winning playwright, performer and activist, best known for her play The Vagina Monologues. Compelled by performances of The Vagina Monologues, Eve Ensler founded V-Day, a global movement to end the exploitation of and violence against all women and girls. The movement is a catalyst promoting creative events that increase awareness, raise money, and revitalize the spirit of existing anti-violence organizations. The movement has helped to support various efforts including City of Joy — a transformation leadership community created by and for women survivors of violence in the Democratic Republic of Congo — and its eponymous documentary. In conjunction with its 15th anniversary, V-Day launched its most ambitious campaign – One Billion Rising. Every Valentine’s Day since 2012 the campaign has brought together people around the world to express outrage at the staggering statistic that 1 in 3 women will be beaten or raped during their lifetime. Eve Ensler continued her long-standing effort to reach out and inspire women in her 2012 play made about and for young girls, Emotional Creatures. Through a mixture of monologues and musical pieces, Ensler gives voice to the innermost secrets and thoughts of girls’ around the world. The play is a call, a reckoning, an education, and an act of empowerment for girls.

“The woman, and, the artist, inspire me, personally, and Artemis Rising Foundation. Her fierce compassion for ending violence against women and girls, globally, and the importance of tackling that issue, are nothing short of staggering.” RKS
