Won’t You Be My Neighbor?

A belief in kindness drove Fred Rogers’ beloved children’s show

2018 | Running Time: 94 minutes | Rating: PG-13

For more than 30 years, Fred Rogers broadcast his beloved television show MISTER ROGERS’ NEIGHBORHOOD into homes across America. Alongside his cast of puppets and friends, the soft-spoken minister, puppeteer, writer and producer simply and directly spoke to young children about life’s most complex issues. Though he is largely seen as a children’s television host, his career was based around protecting childhood and using television as a positive force. Academy Award-winning filmmaker Morgan Neville’s WON’T YOU BE MY NEIGHBOR? portrays Fred Rogers’ legacy of radical kindness. The film premiered at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival. “As an empathic, enlightened call to arms, “Won’t You Be My Neighbor?” winds up being as quietly, cozily radical as its subject.”
